Capri

The natural beauty of this island makes it one of Europe’s classic destinations. The emperors of Ancient Rome travelled there on holiday –– something present-day visitors can well understand when they are on the spot. Go on a day trip and enjoy the gardens of Emperor Augustus, Axel Munthe’s Villa San Michele and other attractions.

Pompeji & Napoli

In 79 AD, Pompeii was buried under ash from the volcano Vesuvius. All the wood was burnt, but much of the buildings and their decoration was preserved under the ash. Today, walking round the excavated streets is like travelling back in time. Whole city blocks with pavements, public baths and private homes have survived. See also the exhibition of beautiful intarsia handicrafts from Southern Italy and learn how to make cameo jewellery.

Rome

In Rome, you not only hear the wingbeats of history but can see the wings themselves. Visit some gems of the city –– the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Castel Sant’ Angelo, Fontana di Trevi and the Spanish Steps, to name but a few. Explore modern Rome, too; elegant shops, charming cafés and magnificent Piazza Navona, with its famous fountains and bustling pavements, await you.

Ponza

Ponza is the largest of the six islands in the attractive Ponza Islands group. From Terracina, every morning, boats take passengers to picturesque Ponza harbour, where there are several fish restaurants. The island is known for its beautiful rock formations and turquoise water. Take a packed lunch, bathing things, goggles and snorkel. Small motorboats are also available for hire.

Terracina

Visit the Temple of Jupiter, the old town of Terracina and the neighbouring town of Sperlonga. The intriguing narrow alleys of the old town are redolent with ancient history, and the well-preserved ruins of the Temple of Jupiter, perched on top of the majestic cliffs of Monte Sant’ Angelo, appear to be keeping a watchful eye on Terracina.
